Important Notice - Section 1 Examinations - Move to computer based testing The Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations would like to advise that, from January 2011, the Section 1 examinations will move from paper based to computer based testing (CBT). Delivery of CBT examinations will be released on a specialty by specialty basis. We are working towards candidates being able to sit their Section 1 examination in one of over 150 Pearson VUE professional test centres in UK and Ireland.
Candidates are therefore advised not to book any travel for Section 1 examinations from January 2011. Further details will be released in September 2010.
Important Notice - Fees From January 2011, the examination fee will increase by £95 to £1795 (Section 1 £520, Section 2 £1275). It should be noted that there has been no increase in the examination fees since November 2006.
ISB & JCIE >> The Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations (JCIE) reports to the four Surgical Royal Colleges of UK & Ireland for the professional conduct of the Intercollegiate Specialty Examinations (FRCS (Specialty)).
SPECIALTIES >> The JCIE is supported by nine Intercollegiate Specialty Boards (ISB). Detailed information regarding these surgical specialties can be found here.
